Helping fleets prepare for ban on new petrol and diesel vehicles
The government plans to end the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles by 2035 as part of its environmentally focused Road to Zero strategy
Although a lot has changed because of the Coronavirus pandemic, it has yet to alter the timetable for shifting to a zero-carbon economy.
Under current government proposals, the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles will be outlawed by 2035 and there is little sign of this timetable changing.
The lockdown has even spurred on local authorities to embrace the opportunities of empty roads to reshape urban transport as they sacrifice road space to cycle lanes in a bid to encourage residents to change their travel habits when ‘normality’ returns.
In response to the changes, fleet operators are developing strategies to roll-out low-emission vehicles in greater numbers across both the public and private sector; most recently with Leeds City Council taking delivery of 122 electric compact vans.
In this changing environment, Reflex Vehicle Hire is here to help every step of the way.
Our flexible hire service allows companies to test different vehicle options in a low-risk environment, with the option to hand vehicles back when trials are complete or if a change is needed.
We can also offer our expert advice and insight, as we have already spent years supplying customers with low-emission and electric vehicles.
We can provide guidance on the key issues that need to be considered when introducing electric vehicles and highlight the operational challenges that need to be considered.
Furthermore, our unique Driive with Reflex modular safety system provided with Reflex vehicles includes vehicle tracking; data from your current hire fleet can be used to monitor how vehicles are typically used, which can then be matched to the abilities of currently available electric vehicles.
This can be used when considering vehicle replacement and also when looking at other considerations, such as where to place charging units.
You can see the full range of zero-emission-capable vehicles currently available on our Hybrid & Electric Vehicles page.
